Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions on how to get started with therapy at Balanced Perspectives.

  • The first session is usually focused on completing a comprehensive clinical assessment to determine your primary concerns, and needs, and discussing your treatment goals. Upon completing your assessment, I will propose a treatment plan tailored to your specific unique needs.

  • Most therapies last between 8 and 20 sessions. It is recommended that clients start with 4-6 weekly sessions prior to spacing out to bi-weekly and monthly sessions to allow you more time to practice the new skills. Depending on your session numbers and frequency are discussed during the initial assessment session.

Please note that, these are only recommendations. You always have the full autonomy to adjust your treatment plan and have the right to terminate treatment at any given time.

  • Each virtual session is 50-minutes in length.

    Fees:

    • Individual Therapy: $185

    • Couples Therapy: $200

    • Interact Transfers (e-transfer)

    • Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Debit Visa)

  • To help me meet all of my clients’ needs, I request at least 24 business hours’ notice prior to your scheduled session time when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. The full fee will be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments.

  • Most private insurance providers cover services provided by Registered Psychotherapists, however, the benefits coverage vary from employer-to-employer. It is best to review extended benefits coverage booklet to determine the amount of your coverage.

Unfortunately, I do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Usually, clients are expected to pay upfront. Upon completing your session, you will be provided with an invoice and payment receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement purposes.

  • In Ontario, a Registered Psychotherapist is a regulated mental health professional who has completed a graduate-level program in psychotherapy and is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). RPs specialize in providing therapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, families, or groups. They are trained in various therapeutic modalities and work to address mental health concerns, emotional well-being, and personal growth. Although knowledgeable about the treatment of psychological disorders, Registered Psychotherapists are not legally qualified to formalize a mental health diagnosis. In Ontario, only Clinical Psychologists/Psychological Associates and Medical Doctors (A family physician/psychiatrist) are qualified to formalize a diagnosis.
